here is a myth!Loki icon to shake things up

Oh goodness. I have so many feelings about Norse myth that I took to writing fic. It was kind of an odd by-product of seeing the film: I came back wanting to write myth!fic rather than film!fic. I'd always kind of wanted to write myth fic, but after the movie came out I thought people might actually read it? So I end up writing fic about Loki and Sigyn and Sleipnir and Loki's slowly building but hidden anger about the fact that Odin STEALS ALL OF HIS KIDS. (Which: apparently there is some myth!canon for baby thief Odin in the movie!)

When I was a kid, the first time I encountered Norse mythology, I was totally rooting for Loki all the way, and when the story got to Ragnarok I was vaguely aware that I was supposed to find it tragic and horrifying and just generally bad news, but mostly I was thinking, "Aw yes, Loki and the Giants finally get their own." (Misaimed Fandom to the max, I suppose?) Which maybe should tell you everything about me as a person?

That the hate and distrust and overall hostility he felt towards the Frost Giants was too strong for him to get past it entirely.

I could definitely buy this, and it does make him a little understandable in that respect, but the part I just can't wrap my head around is, DUDE YOU DON'T GO AROUND STEALING KIDS. THAT SHIT IS NOT ON. (I do have some vague knowledge that in the comics Loki was left to die as a runt or some such, but there's nothing to indicate that in the movie, and the whole flashback scene and Odin's general fail at telling the truth leaves me extremely disinclined to believe his viewpoint on any of this, so!)
